On Monday 15th July, our CEO Jon Kuhrt, was invited to give a lecture about the future of Christian social action for the organisation Together for the Common Good.  The title was Grace, Truth and the Common Good: the future of Christian Social Action and the event was held in memory of the late MP for Birkenhead, Frank Field, who was a Christian and a life-long anti-poverty campaigner.

The lecture was held at the London Jesuit Centre before an invited audience of 70 people who represent many major Christian social action charities and also representatives from many denominations.  A further 200 people booked in to watch the lecture online.

Jon talks about some of the key challenges which face Christian social action and argues that a practical theology of grace and truth is what we most need to navigate these challenges.  He refers regularly to Hope into Action’s work and how our work is an example of empowering people whilst maintaining a strong Christian ethos.
