Ethan Malcolm is walking 1,200 miles across the UK to raise funds and shine a light on the issue of homelessness.

Every penny raised will go directly to support Hope into Action’s work - providing homes, community, and life-changing support for those experiencing homelessness.

No fixed path: my walk for hope

After recently returning from an amazing three-week expedition to Everest Base Camp in Nepal, I began to think about how to make the most of this summer before heading into my final year of university. During our final few dinners in Kathmandu, a plan began to take shape: to walk the length of the UK, from Lands' End to John O'Groats.

I’ve decided to partner with Hope into Action, a charity based in my hometown of Peterborough, to raise awareness for the critical issue of homelessness.

Over the course of the next two and a half months, I’ll be walking approximately 1,200 miles and along the way, I’ll be joined by friends and family who will walk sections of the route with me. It will not just be a personal challenge but a collective journey.

Whilst my experience will be by choice and fully equipped, I aim to challenge myself by camping on as much of the route as possible, reflecting in some small way on the instability faced by those without a home.

This trek is more than just a physical feat – it is an opportunity to raise funds, start conversations and bring attention to Hope into Action’s work to combat homelessness across the UK.

The walk will commence on Sunday June 29th 2025, and 100% of funds raised will go to Hope into Action.

Thank you for your interest, support and encouragement!

From launch day to the final mile,Ethan will be sharing updates, reflections, and moments from the road as he walks 1,200 miles for hope.

Stay connected and cheer him on as he puts hope into every step.
