Our Story

Hope into Action South Leicestershire began with a passion to provide safe, high‑quality homes for people experiencing homelessness. Founded by Dianne Tidball—who has served on the Hope into Action UK board for many years—the initiative was inspired by seeing the powerful difference that local churches can make when they come together to support vulnerable individuals.

How It All Began

After several years of gathering interest and building momentum within a small but enthusiastic group from Whetstone Baptist Church, the project officially launched in February 2024. The first board of trustees—Cheryl Pharoah, Fiona Bedford, and Stephen Brown—stepped forward with no prior experience running a charity of this kind, ready to learn and grow as the vision took shape.

Purchasing Our First Home

With the charity formally registered, investors soon began committing funds to purchase our first property. Following much prayer and planning, a semi‑detached house in Whetstone was secured in October 2025. By April 2026, after extensive preparation and refurbishment, the home is now almost ready to welcome its first two tenants.

The property will support men who have experienced homelessness, particularly those leaving prison—closely aligned with Whetstone Baptist Church’s ongoing ministry with the nearby Fosse Way prison.

Supporting Our Tenants

We are grateful to have appointed a highly experienced Empowerment Worker who will walk alongside our tenants, providing support, encouragement, and practical guidance as they rebuild their lives and work towards independence.

Seeing God’s Provision

Throughout this journey, we have continually seen God’s provision—bringing together a committed group of trustees, prompting investment at the right moments, providing a suitable Empowerment Worker, and surrounding us with volunteers who helped prepare the property. We trust that He will continue to guide us and provide tenants who can flourish in this environment.

Looking Ahead

As trustees, we are excited for the future and eager to see how this project continues to develop. This is just the beginning, and we look forward to the next chapter of this growing and hope‑filled enterprise.
