Where it all began: Bretton Baptist Church On Wednesday 9th October, over 70 Hope into Action church partners, staff, F&S groups and supporters met online for our annual Church Thanksgiving Service. Church Partners are the 'secret sauce' that makes up Hope into Action. Through the friendship, support and compassion shown to tenants who have experienced homelessness, Church Partners and F&S volunteers help to restore identity to tenants and provide a community and a sense of belonging. We are incredibly grateful to all our partners who give their time and resources to support others. In 2010, with the help of Bretton Baptist Church, Ed Walker MBE set up Hope into Action and the work to enable churches to house the homeless began. 14 years later, our mission remains the same. We want to restore hope to those experiencing or recovering from the trauma of homelessness and empower the church to create communities and offer friendship and support to our tenants. Ed, HIA staff and the team from Bretton Baptist Church have created a video to not only celebrate the work done in that time and to encourage other churches to see a HiA partnership as an extension of their church mission and identity, but to also candidly share how it can sometimes be tough and that perseverance and commitment are what has kept the partnership alive since 2010. Thanks to Ed and Bretton Baptist Church for helping create this video and for their ongoing support. We are always looking for more churches to respond to the call to ‘house the poor wanderer’ (Isaiah 58:6) so if this video inspires you, we challenge you to put this hope into action and consider whether you could invest, open a home or pray into the work we do. We’d love to connect with you. If you feel excited and empowered by our mission, click here for further information. Manage Cookie Preferences
